Sterile Monofilament Non-Absoroable Stainless Steel Sutures -Pacing Wire
Temporary Pacing Wire is a sterile single use, twisted 316L stainless steel wire, coated (sheathed) with colored polyethylene, with double needle, with or without anchor.
Pacing Wire consists of following part:
Insulated multifilament steel coated with colored polyethylene
Intracorporeal curved needle
Extracorporeal straight breakaway needle
PACING WIRE meets requirements established by the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) for non-absorbable surgical sutures. USP diameter is only for steel wire (no insulation). Temporary Pacing Wire may be presented as "anchored" type.
PACING WIRE provides a conductive connection between an external pacemaker and myocardium having one end stripped of insulation, and crimped to a curved taper point suture needle for facilitating fixation in the myocardium or if anchored; penetration through myocardium and fixation by anchor. Anchor is the stripped off and spread part of the insulation close to the curved needle. The other end of the insulated lead is conductively attached to a straight cutting needle which is pushed through the thoracic cavity wall from the interior to the exterior. The straight needle is equipped with a special break-off (breakaway) groove. The cutting part of the needle is broken off at the groove, and the stub forms an electrode plug which is connected to conventional pacing and monitoring equipment. If the electrode will be attached later, the electrode must be isolated in such a way that no exposed metal remains.
Pacing Wire is indicated for use as a temporary cardiac pacing wire to transfer electrical energy along its length between the external pacemaker and the patient’s heart for temporary cardiac pacing and intracardial ECG monitoring during and after open-heart surgery, for single use only.
Users should be familiar with surgical procedures and techniques involving temporary pacing and sensing before fixation of the wire.
Acceptable surgical practice must be followed for the management of contaminated or infected wounds. Sterility is preserved only when opened under sterile conditions
